Summer Project!

If your child is starting in Year 1 in September 2024, please have a look at the Summer Project below for ideas on activities they can do over the summer to prepare them for Year 1 learning.

We are so excited about your child's learning experiences this year and can't wait for all the adventures we will be taking them on!

Mr Darling is currently the year group leader for Year One. If you have any questions, please make an appointment to see him at the office. 

On the North Site, the teaching team are:

Your child's class PE days and their Library bus days are listed below. This can sometimes change each half term so be sure to check regularly:

Important dates for the term! (Please continue to check this page, as well as the school app and weekly newsletter, as more will be added)

 

  • Monday, 3rd June: Children return from half-term holiday.
  • 3rd June- 7th June: Film Week! Children will be creating pieces on the theme of sustainability, using the book "What it means to be green" by Rana DiOrio. 
  • 6th June- D Day- there will be a special menu today to celebrate D Day.
  • 10th- 14th June- National Phonics Check- Year 1 children will sit a test of 40 words (20 regular words and 20 'alien' words, linked to the sounds they have been learning in phonics. 
  • Thursday, 13th June: Mission Globes! The 'winning' film from Film Week will be presented and children will be awarded a trophy. 
  • 24th- 28th June: Sports Week! More information to follow.
  • Monday, 1st July- Poetry Slam! Children will have been learning poems linked to their curriculum. There will be two winners per year group, competing in a poetry slam which parents will be invited to attend!
  • Saturday, 13th July- Summer Fair. Please join us for our usual frivolity and fantastic raffle prizes.
  • Friday, 19th July- Sports Day at Douglas Ayre playing field. 
  • Wednesday, 24th July- last day of term.
