Welcome to the year 1 web page, on which you will be receiving all updates surrounding your child's progress.

We are fortunate to have a great team consisting of teachers, TAs and 1-1s, all of whom will be supporting the students in their journey through year 1.

Creating our Pledgehog!

A massive thank you to all our parents who supported us in creating our year 1 Pledgehog.

The children loved creating their pledges, and writing their WOW words for the week on their leaves with all your support.

We, as the year 1 team, are very proud of each one of them.

Thank you, Tottenham Hotspurs!

All the children had a fantastic morning practising their ball control skills with a coach from Tottenham Hotspurs. 

World Food Day: 

We celebrated World Food Day! Students dressed up in their cultural clothes and shared their food.

We are fortunate to be such a diverse and inclusive school.

All the students learnt about children around the globe, and how not all are fortunate to have food. 

Learning in year one:

To allow for a smoother and easier transition, the year 1 team have been working hard to prepare a range of activities to support the students - this includes continuing a free flow setting.

Merlin class have been doing lots of activities to support their understanding when comparing numbers.

Trip to the Science Museum:

Year 1s visited the Science Museum and had an absolutely spectacular time! They had been learning about Amy Johnson, and were able to see the aircraft she flew when travelling from the UK all the way to Australia.

Santa's Mile Run:

All the students did their best during their Santa's Mile Run! They were determined and resilient, succeeding in completing the task. Well done to all students who participated, and thank you to all the parents who came along and supported us all.

Spring term 1:

Year 1s have had an absolutely fantastic term as they've progressed through learning all things toys!

Magpie class are visiting the Young V&A on Monday 10th February, and Moorhen's will be going on Friday 14th February.

Thursday 13th February is the Friendship Disco - £5 per child to enter.

STEAM Week: 10th-14th March 2025

The year 1 board game was Ludo! We worked as a team to create our life-sized board, adapting it so that the counters represented the changes in the seasons. 

We had a blast creating and playing Ludo!

For DT, the students have been creating healthy energy bars. We spent the day designing, creating and evaluating. We focused on what being healthy means to us and how we can improve our lifestyles.
