Literacy: In Literacy, the children will be learning to write their names independently.  At Mission Grove we follow the Read Write Inc. programme where the children will be learning their letter sounds and the mnemonics that help them form their letters, write CVC words and learn to read. Helpful resources and tutorials for parents can be found on the following website:

The children will bring home two books a week. One is a reading book, which we ask you to help your child read, and the other is a storybook, which they have chosen from our library bus. We also provide your child with a reading record book. This allows us to record your child’s books and for you to make a comment on the books.

Your child's class teacher will provide you with log in details shortly. Please access your account via the link here:  You are also welcome to create termly projects linked to the topic your child has just completed and visit our school's website for extra activities.

Stay & Read: Every Friday we invite parents and carers to come to stay and read. This session gives parents the opportunity to stay and read with their child and discuss why reading is vital for a child’s development. Our Early Years staff are available to answer any questions you may have.

Every fortnight we take the children to Walthamstow Library - if you would like to attend please let your class teacher know.  Dates and times will be advertising on the doors.

For any information or advice, please do not hesitate to speak to your child's class teacher or Ms Khan.
