Learning at Home

A typical week in year 3...

Learning at Home

Try and read and enjoy books with your children as often as possible – this will reinforce all the work they are doing in class.

Remember to use your Accelerated Reading at home, before 4pm as well as school, you can quiz through this link here.

Practising their times tables, using money, or measures in real life and telling the time is a big help. Your child also has a Times Table Rock Stars Log in. Please see the class teacher if you are unsure of it.

Phonics

At Mission Grove we follow the RWI approach when learning how to read. Please visit our phonics page here.

Power Maths

Learn more about our maths curriculum here. You will also find the overview of your child's year group as well as our calculation policy which helps when working with your child at home. Each child has a log in to Power Maths and can play educational games and access their current learning in school.

Things to do at home

Times Tables - TT Rock Stars

Please encourage your children to practise their timetables daily. This doesn't have to be a laboured activity but simply when walking to school  asking them a few questions related to the times table they are learning. All the children also have access to TT Rock Stars. This is an online app which allows the children to practise their timetables and related division facts. They can earn coins from correct answers to update and personalise their characters as well as battle with other children in their class and in Mission Grove.

Your child's class teacher will provide you with log-in details for your child. Please access your account via the link here.

Spellings

The children's reading record includes spellings the children need to learn by the end of Year 3 and some phonics practice to help them with their reading.

At the bottom of this page you can find a copy of the spellings for this half-term.
