This half-term we have been reading traditional tales.
Our core texts were 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears', 'Little Red Riding Hood' and 'Three Little Pigs'.
In Literacy, we talked about the characters, what they do and what they look like. We looked at and described the settings. Finally, we were retelling the stories using trying to remember the beginnings, middles and ends.
We created shopping lists and recipes and made porridge. We looked at different materials and tried to build houses with a number of resources. We learnt about friendship and what it means to be a good friend.
We also created our story maps. We had many opportunities for making marks, writing, cutting and sticking.
In phonics, we continued revising all the sounds, blending them out, matching sounds with letters and writing words. Then we checked what we had written by sounding the words out.
In Maths, we learnt about 2D and 3D shapes. We described and compared the shapes and looked at their properties. We also checked which shapes roll and which stack.

Moreover, we introduced part-part-whole models to learn about number bonds within 5. We investigated what 2 numbers make number 5.
