Teaching Assistant/ Apprentice

Contract Type: Fixed Term – one year, Term Time only, 36 hours per week

Start Date : October 2026

Salary : Scale 4 / 5 (dependent upon experience)

                            (Current full-time equivalent salary Scale 4 £29,985 / Scale 5 £30,408)

Mission Grove Primary School is a large primary school, located in the heart of Walthamstow which has excellent transport links.  Mission Grove is located near Walthamstow Market and High Street, which has many shops and vibrant cafés and is within walking distance of Walthamstow Wetlands.

We are seeking to appoint a fun-loving, creative and inspirational Teaching Assistant to work throughout the school. The successful candidate will ideally have experience of supporting children in any of the key stages within the primary phase.  The role is flexible and may involve supporting a child with an Education Health and Care Plan on a one-to-one basis or working within classes supporting children and / or delivering interventions to small groups.

Applicants should have experience in the classroom, have high standards of behaviour and discipline and be committed to ensuring that all children receive the highest quality of education.   We expect you to be an excellent practitioner with outstanding classroom practice promoting good progress and outcomes.  You should be a team player who is friendly, positive, proactive and has good interpersonal skills.

Applicants should have:

• Experience of working with children
• An understanding of how children develop and learn
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification
