Our class text for the Spring term is...

The Viking Boy is a historical adventure novel by Tony Bradman set during the Viking invasion of Anglo-Saxon England.

The story follows Gunnar, a young Norse boy whose life is shattered when his village is attacked and his father is killed in a brutal raid. Captured by enemies and sold into slavery, Gunnar is taken to England, where he must survive in a harsh and unfamiliar land. Along the way, he faces violence, betrayal, and difficult choices that test his courage and loyalty.

As Gunnar grows, he is forced to confront what it truly means to be a Viking, and whether he will follow a path of revenge or choose a different future. Through his journey, the novel explores themes of identity, resilience, family, and the reality behind the legendary Viking warriors.
