Our class text for the Autumn term is...

The Iron Man is a modern fairy tale about a mysterious, giant metal man who appears out of nowhere and starts eating farm machinery, frightening the local people. The townsfolk try to trap and bury him, but he eventually escapes. A young boy named Hogarth befriends the Iron Man and helps the villagers see that he means no harm. When a terrible “Space-Bat-Angel-Dragon” from outer space threatens the Earth, the Iron Man bravely challenges it to a test of strength. After winning, he makes peace with the creature, who promises never to harm Earth again.

The story explores themes of fear and acceptance, friendship, and the power of understanding and peace over violence.
